posted on September 02, 2010 04:55:15 pm
The 2010 college football season gets underway tonight with seven games and the most intriguing is Pittsburgh at Utah. The Utes are favored by three and the total is 48.5. The Panthers are attracting 53 percent of the wagers, so bettors are pretty divided on the outcome.
USC is getting bet the heaviest tonight, with the Trojans getting 78 percent of the wagers. As a result, the line has moved from USC -19 to USC -21 or even USC -21.5 at several books.
The biggest moving total occurred in the Iowa State game, as the number jumped from 47 to the current 51.

- Beware of the Profit Chasers
posted on August 31, 2010 05:04:29 pm
At the end of every season, a number of sports services start to release big games. This usually isn't because the contests on the schedule look so appealing for betting purposes, but instead is a last-ditch effort to get even or ahead for the year.
While this typically takes place at the end of the football season, baseball and basketball aren't immune.

- Early Season College Football Conference Underdogs
posted on August 29, 2010 07:21:03 am
The college football season is less than a week away and conference games are a few more weeks down the road, but serious football bettors are already gearing up for the start of conference play.
Taking conference underdogs in September has generally proved to be a wise decision, with this even more notable in college football's stronger conferences.
We'll look at how conference underdogs have performed in all conferences in Early Season College Football Conference Underdogs in the Football Betting section of the site.

- Early Season College Football Low Totals
posted on August 28, 2010 05:10:40 pm
There's a tendency among football enthusiasts to believe that the defense has an advantage over the offensive units in the early part of the season. Offenses tend to take a little bit of time to find a rhythm and get on the same page.
Using this concept as a springboard, if we were to look at those games which the oddsmakers believed would be low-scoring to begin with, we should see plenty of low-scoring games.
But as often happens, things that seem to make sense don't always pan out that way in the sports betting world.

- Betting the 2010 BCS Championship
posted on August 20, 2010 07:27:38 am
The Alabama Crimson Tide is favored to repeat as BCS champions and for good reason. The Crimson Tide will once again be terrors defensively and as long as their offense doesn't commit too many errors, Alabama will be a tough foe to conquer.
But teams seldom repeat as champions and if the Tide falters, Ohio State is likely to be there waiting.
There are several other teams that have the potential to sneak into the championship game and we'll look at that in Betting the 2010 BCS Championship located in the football betting section of the site.

- The Return of the NFL
posted on August 08, 2010 11:34:59 am
OK, so it's not exactly the Super Bowl, but tonight's Hall of Fame Game is likely to draw decent betting action for the mere fact that it's the first football game in over six months for many bettors.
The Cincinnati Bengals are favored by three and the total is 32.5. The Bengals do have the luxury of playing in their home state and should have a crowd advantage.
The Bengals opened as 2.5 point favorites, but the line has moved in their favor despite Dallas having the majority of bets in the game.
